THE FOUNDATIONS FOR FAVOUR

Ruth 3: 3, Psa 4: 6, Ezra 7: 6, Luke 2: 40
Favour is what every elect desire from the LORD, favour from the LORD is the same thing as the light of His countenance. It is the same thing as the hand of the LORD upon an individual; it is often used interchangeably for grace in the scripture.

Today, we will discuss favour from the LORD, its source, manifestation and possible requirements. To have favour from The LORD is also to be marked of the LORD. This mark is what attracts favour from man, this mark makes a favoured man to be sought after. This principle of God is manipulated by Lucifer as he often puts his evil no mark of dis-favour on the fore head of most people without their knowledge. Paul gave insight to this in (Gal 6:17) “from hence forth, let no one trouble me for now I bear in my body the marks of Christ Jesus”. From this scripture, Paul knew that before that time there was, in his body a different mark that is why he said “from henceforth”; he also said “now” which means from this moment I bear new marks of Christ Jesus in my body.

 It will take the mark from the LORD to displace every evil mark of dis-favour, the process for acquiring this mark is our focus today. Let us examine 3 foundational requirements for favour as seen in (Ruth 3:3);

1.       Wash thyself
2.       Anoint thyself
3.       Change thy garment

To wash thyself is to wash thy face and thy face is thy heart (II Cor 3:18). Now, what then is to wash our heart? It is for our heart to experience, RENEWAL, SANCTIFICATION and then CIRCUMCISION. (Rom 12: 2, John 17: 17, II Cor 3: 18). A heart that had experienced all this or is experiencing this will be favoured of the LORD.

The second foundation for favour is the word anointing. Naomi told Ruth to anoint herself. What is the role of the anointing? (Isa 10:27) explains this; the scripture here says “that the enemy's burden shall be lifted off our shoulders and his yoke shall be taken off from our necks and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. Contemporarily, an anointed man is a favoured man and he is also a source to others to obtain favour from the LORD.

The garment is perhaps of most importance when it comes to receiving favour. This is one weapon that the enemy uses a lot against God’s elect. The high priest Joshua in (Zech 3:1-4) was worn with a filthy garment by Lucifer, the high priest was still ministering to God’s people in his own eyes; however, Lucifer was standing at his right hand with accusations. It took a change of that garment for the high priest Joshua to be restored to his original state. Most times, God may need to change our garment for a complete and total restoration.

Ezra the ready scribe, a season teacher by interpretation had experienced renewal of his own mind thereby fulfilling the first principle of favour as seen in (Ruth 3: 3), he is anointed to teach and therefore fulfilling again the second condition for favour. His garment is not stained therefore fulfilling the third principle of favour because all these three conditions were in place in Ezra, the bible says king Ahasuerus granted him favour by giving him all that he requested for, to rebuild the broken wall of Jerusalem in accordance with the hand of his God that was upon him. The hand of his God here is the favour of God.

The child Jesus grew in stature (first principle also), maturity (renewal) and he also waxed strong in the spirit (increased in anointing). He first obtained favour from the LORD and then men subsequently favoured him (Luke 2: 40). What is the contemporary application of all this? The enemy has come to kill, to steal and to destroy but the son of man was made manifest so that he can destroy the works of the evil one. There is need for every believer to acquire a brand new mark in Christ Jesus and an identity card indicating your membership of this new family and consequently making you an ambassador of Christ Jesus.

Everywhere you go, HIS PRESENCE goes with you, His hand is evidently seen upon your life, you are marked or separated from the midst of the crowd and you are highly favoured. Men naturally will be attracted to you and men will enjoy their fellowship with you.

I prophesy that henceforth, men will perceive the grace or the favour of God upon your life and they will extend their hand of fellowship to you (Gal 2: 9). In Jesus name.
