THE ANATOMY OF GOD’S RICHES

Phil 4: 19, II Cor 4: 7, 8

The word anatomy refers to the bodily structure of a thing. In this context anatomy refers to the components, the context, the content and the constituents of God’s riches. The word riches are not synonymous to circular wealth as often erroneously taught by many. The riches of God are not and cannot be material wealth, they are not visible. They are in fact invisible but more potent than the physical material. Although, the riches of God is linked with physical wealth ultimately, for the reason of this write-up we will stick absolutely to the spiritual and speak less of the physical manifestation (III John: 2).

The riches of God are found embedded invisibly in a prospered soul of His saints. Paul the apostle prayed a prayer for the church in Philippi, the scripture that has become a common one, regrettably, used in our assemblies for taking offerings, it is even a common song that we take while taking offering without a full understanding of its weight. He said in (Phil 4: 19) that “his God will supply all their need (the church in Philippi) according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus”. The riches of God are in Christ Jesus, firstly, in glory. Secondly, the same glory he gaveth to the saints before ascending into heaven (John 17: 5). In the saints now, after, Christ’s ascension lieth the riches of God.

Two words that look similar must be distinguished while explaining riches. Let us look at this scripture, (II Cor 4: 7) “we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of the power may not be of man but of God”. In this scripture above the word treasure is mentioned by Paul embedded in us God’s saints (earthen vessels). Treasure is unprocessed, useless, unrefined and a raw material only. Let us now see how God processes, refines His treasures in his saints, by examining the very next verse of the same scripture (II Cor 4: 8) “we are troubled on every side”. Every treasure must attract trouble as the catalyst or the fertilizer that is required to process the treasure. James said in (James 1: 3, 4) “that we should count it all joy, when we fall in diverse temptations”. Why must we be joyous in the midst of temptations? The reason for the joy is the end-product that follows the series of afflictions. In (Exodus 1: 12) the bible says “the more the children of Israel were afflicted by the Egyptians (their God-ordained tormentors) the more they grew and multiplied”, and their tormentors became angry. When you are a saint in whom God’s given treasure is being processed your enemies must be grieved because whatever they do to you is adding more to your spiritual capacity and not removing any as they would have loved it to be. God uses diverse temptations, trials, afflictions and distresses to enlarge us on the inside (Psa 4: 1) the more your soul prospers during this phase the more robust you become in your inner-man and the more you produce God’s given riches.

This equation below summarizes God’s riches, its source and its strength;

TREASURE + TROUBLE = RICHES

Riches therefore, from above is not found in men with enticing words of men’s wisdom, it is not found in a skillful preacher neither is it found in a very popular and charismatic orator. But, they are found in men who are regarded as fools, imbeciles, stupid, etc. Why?  Because it is only the latter set of people that can be fully processed or submit to God’s training.

Today, I say unto you rejoice and rejoice again when you fall into diverse temptations. For God’s test for you, with you and in you is to give you a testimony (Rev 12: 11). God bless you.

       I was just a teenager the First time I listened to him. He had been invited for a conference and I remember while he presented the message, I was pondering over every line uttered by this man. They hit me like:
 "Wow!" so much so that I thought, after the program I would personally thank him for being such a selfless tool for service! The Conference ended and I missed him because everyone just wanted time with him.
  Well, I just consoled myself that "Maybe next time."
    Years after, here we are getting to know more about him and his eighteen years in ministry thus far.

INTERNAL CONTENT.. with Dr. Alex Olugbami The Real 'YOU' is not what we see, it is invincible.  Your walk with God is not on the 'Outside', it's on the 'Inside'  God said: "David is a man after my heart._ because David had a heart to heart relationship with God. You may step out ahead of God in ministry and think you are ready but you are not.  If you are not made and you leave, you become half baked and you are prone to attack.  Be made, before you are sent forth._  We tend to be in a hurry when God speaks.  God, cannot be mocked.  It's not about the number of times you fall(because, in ministry, you must stumble to gather strength ), it's about learning from the experience to forge ahead. it's not the external sword that kills but the internal.  What goes on in your heart?: Were you given or it's from you?  For example, someone says: "Have you heard what she said about you?" Then you are quick to r...
        From The Pastor's Desk With Dr Alex Olugbami The Crucified Life (PART 1) Emphasis: Freedom from the TRUTH Text: Gal 2: 20, Matt 10: 39, John 8: 32 Christianity is not a religion neither is Christianity a way of life as it has been erroneously taught. Christianity, is the losing of an old life and the consequent acquiring of a new one. In other words the old life must be crucified with Christ, (Gal 2: 20) please note; not being crucified in Christ as we have also been taught. It is true that Christ has finished all and by faith we are seated in heavenly places in Him but the pathway to heavenly places is to be crucified with Him. This means the only way to glory is through the cross, a very unpopular message in our assemblies today. In this part of the teaching we will look at the five F’s that freedom brings after crucifixion with Christ. In (John 8: 32), Jesus said that Freedom cometh by knowledge of the truth, knowledge is not s...
UNDERSTANDING DIVINE INSTRUCTION II kings 4: 1-7, Prov 4: 20-23 The word understanding is poorly understood by most believers in the faith today; some often say that understanding is the same as knowledge or wisdom. However, understanding is beyond all these, Solomon said, “…get knowledge, get wisdom and above all get understanding”, here Solomon placed understanding above all. Why is it so?  Knowledge without right application (wisdom) is unfruitful, unprofitable and useless to the recipient but understanding brings always a brighter meaning to the other two (knowledge and wisdom). God has a language, so also has the enemy in (Dan 1: 3,4 ) the choicest of the children of Israel who were in captivity in Babylon under God’s divine purpose for them, they were selected to be taught the language of the Chaldeans(the Babylonians). When the very elect refuse to gain understanding of God’s language their effort becomes fruitless, understanding divine instruction, carrying out dil...
