UNDERSTANDING DIVINE INSTRUCTION

II kings 4: 1-7, Prov 4: 20-23

The word understanding is poorly understood by most believers in the faith today; some often say that understanding is the same as knowledge or wisdom. However, understanding is beyond all these, Solomon said, “…get knowledge, get wisdom and above all get understanding”, here Solomon placed understanding above all. Why is it so?  Knowledge without right application (wisdom) is unfruitful, unprofitable and useless to the recipient but understanding brings always a brighter meaning to the other two (knowledge and wisdom). God has a language, so also has the enemy in (Dan 1: 3,4 ) the choicest of the children of Israel who were in captivity in Babylon under God’s divine purpose for them, they were selected to be taught the language of the Chaldeans(the Babylonians).

When the very elect refuse to gain understanding of God’s language their effort becomes fruitless, understanding divine instruction, carrying out diligently what is understood is the key to abundance. A man may hear God, may listen to the voice of the LORD but may not gain understanding. When God speaks to His children through dreams and visions except you have understanding of His language you may not understand when He speaks.

In the story above, the wife of the prophet was given three divine instructions by Elisha in (II Kings 4: 3);

1.    He told her to go to all her neighbors (abroad);

2.    Borrow vessels from them;

3.    More importantly do not borrow a few.

The last instruction was not carried out by the woman with full understanding. Instead of her to head the team in the search for uncountable numbers of vessels that she could get far and near, she sent her sons. But her sons wouldn’t have carried out the instructions because it wasn’t given directly to them but unto her. When you delegate assignment in ministry, better be sure that the person is already soaked in the vision. Otherwise, he might turn out to be or become the clog in the wheel of progress to that vision.

She presumed that they had borrowed countless vessels before she locked herself and them (the sons) up in the room as instructed by Elisha. It was when she requested for another vessel as the oil was still running and they replied that “there were yet no more vessels”, that she used her hand to stop the flow of oil. For as long as there were empty borrowed countless vessels the oil would have continued to flow ceaselessly. What a sad story, how often we find ourselves in similar situations when we because of our disobedience hold the hand of God from blessing us. There is no other person that can be you especially when it comes to divine instruction.

Paul in (Gal 1: 15) as soon as it pleased the father to reveal the Son (Jesus Christ) in him (please note: not to him but in him), he conferred not with flesh and blood, he went about preaching the gospel as divinely instructed. Every adjustment, amendment or garnishing to divine instructions will ultimately lead to catastrophe and regret. The woman in question was not only to sell the oil, pay her debt but she was meant to live afterwards by the proceeds that come from the sale of the oil. You can see how she decided on her own to shortchange herself by not hearkening to divine instructions. The emphasis here is “borrow not a few”, how do we know what is few? The safest way, is to get as many as possible vessels of big capacities like the storage tanks of billion ship in numerical figure so that the proceeds that come afterwards can sustain you and your God-given vision.

The LORD had finished all His works concerning you; you are in His hands a closed book. Your job is to align yourself with His divine instruction. God bless you.

       I was just a teenager the First time I listened to him. He had been invited for a conference and I remember while he presented the message, I was pondering over every line uttered by this man. They hit me like:
 "Wow!" so much so that I thought, after the program I would personally thank him for being such a selfless tool for service! The Conference ended and I missed him because everyone just wanted time with him.
  Well, I just consoled myself that "Maybe next time."
    Years after, here we are getting to know more about him and his eighteen years in ministry thus far.

          From the Pastor's Desk ... THE FOUNTAIN OF LIFE Psa 36: 9, John 1: 4, I John 1: 7, 8 Gods breath (Gen2:7) is what made man a living soul, it means the breath of God is his very life which he gave to us (man) that made us in his image and after his likeness . This same life is in the son (JESUS CHRIST) (I John 5:12) here the bible says “he that has the son, has life and he that has not the son has not life’’ having the son therefore guarantee life to every believer. Life in itself is the very essence of our existence as God’s elect. Life is what makes us his minister and what makes up the ministry he has given us .let us start by examining the following terms; Who is a minister? A minister is a channel or a medium through whom the life of Christ flows into others. From this definition, it means a minister must have life for him to give it out; for it is impossible to give what you don’t have. It is this life that the minist...
      From the Pastor's Desk ...(With Dr Alex Olugbami.) THE BLESSING OF THE DEEP (PART II) Emphasis: THE BLESSING OF THE WOMB AND THE BREAST Gen 49: 25, Isa 66: 8, 9 Our focus today will be on spiritual pregnancies, their real meaning and God’s subsequent provision. The call of God to His elect is a total package, it consists of all of God’s pleasures distinctly for an individual, in line with the volume of books written of that same individual(Psa 40: 7). The God that calleth is the same that provideth. The word provision can be broken down into two, which is ‘pro’ for the ‘vision’. The blessing of the deep is always for the propagation of the gospel of Christ Jesus. It is not for personal consumption as it has been erroneously taught. From the scripture above in (Gen 49: 25), Israel was pronouncing blessing on all his children and when it got to the turn of Joseph he mentioned the kind of blessing that is coming the way of Joseph, he said “it is the blessing...
        From the Pastor's Desk ... THE FOUNTAIN OF LIFE(II) I John 1: 7, Psa 119: 130, Prov 20: 27 Today, we will be looking at the light that we receive from His life as discussed previously. This light is for us to walk with him, first, in fellowship then, by extension affecting the world around us. When we walk in the light of the LORD, He sheds a glory upon our path and giveth us understanding of His very person. It is impossible to fellowship with an unknown God. It simply means as we walk in His light we get to know Him each day, each moment better. In (II Cor4: 18) here the bible says “the path of the just is like a shining light that gets brighter each day unto a perfect day”. It means therefore, that the more we fellowship with Him the more light He sheds on our path, the brighter our path gets and the more of Him we know. What then is the contemporary source of this light? When we study the scripture in (Psa 119: 130) we discover...
